Editorial Policy

This page describes how Zextons assigns a writer, when a technical review is shown, and how a published article is corrected.

Who is responsible

Each guide, news story or comparison names its writer. That person is the author of the article. A technical reviewer is credited separately, and only after they have checked the version that was published.

A reviewer is not listed as the author unless they also wrote the article. A normal article has one writer. More than one writer is named only when they wrote it together.

How an article is published

  1. The writer drafts the article, records the sources used, and notes any original checks carried out on a device.
  2. An editor checks accuracy, relevance for UK readers, links, prices and whether the article needs a disclosure.
  3. Where the article depends on a technical explanation, a technician reviews that revision and records what they checked.
  4. The article is published with the writer, and with the reviewer only when that review has been approved.
  5. A later edit that changes the technical meaning is reviewed again. An older approval is not treated as approval of the new text.

News does not automatically go through a technician review. A review is used when the article interprets how a device works, how to check it, or how condition and battery health should be understood.

Sources

Articles should distinguish confirmed details from rumours, and say when a comparison is based on published specifications rather than hands-on testing. Company history on Zextons, including local customer service since 2007 and online trading since 2014, describes the business. It is not a claim about how long an individual contributor has worked here.

Corrections

If a price, specification or instruction is wrong, the article is corrected and the original publication date stays in place. The updated date changes when the article itself has meaningfully changed. Replacing a template, or refreshing the page automatically, is not an update. To report a correction, email [email protected].

Disclosure

Zextons Tech Store sells brand-new and refurbished technology. Articles may link to products we sell so readers can see the device being discussed.

A technical review on an article is a check of the explanation. It is not a customer review and it is not a star rating.

Profiles

A contributor profile uses the same name and role as the article byline. A portrait, LinkedIn profile, qualification or start year is published only when that detail has been confirmed. Meet the contributors and read how devices are tested.
